Chris Michalak’s Personal Surfing Journey
As a youngster Chris always had a connection with the ocean. Growing up in Fingal Bay and living in such close proximity to the beach it was inevitable. Chris started surfing about the age of 6 and proceeded to compete in local amateur events from the age of 12 till age 17. It was at this age he entered into the professional ranks in the junior series, competing nationwide to gain a reputation as a serious competitor up until the age of 20.
Having started an apprenticeship at the age of 20, Chris found it hard to compete as working was number 1 priority. His love of surfing still existed throughout his full time work commitments where he continued to compete in select events gaining some solid results.
While Chris is not in training he loves to spend time at the Family Surf school in Port Stephens, sharing his ocean Knowledge with the kids!
One of Chris favourite classes is teaching the less fortunate kids and kids with disabilities,
“I love teaching Surfing! I get a buzz out of watching a child’s face light up, the first time they catch a wave”
Chris’ sole focus is travelling the world surfing in the WQS and gaining those points to make it onto the dream tour(CT).
With training 6 days per week, shooting film video analysis and a healthy mind spirit and diet there is only one way to go-To the Top!
